Background

Nezuko is the reason the story exists: the sister who was turned instead of killed. Muzan's blood should have made her an eater of humans, but she never crossed that line. She sleeps to recover strength instead of feeding, carries a bamboo muzzle as a precaution she has never actually needed, and treats every human as family because of a suggestion Urokodaki planted while she slept for two years.

In a fight she is a demon on the Corps' side, which unsettles everyone the first time they see it. She changes size at will, shrinking to fit a carrying box and growing into an adult form when pushed. Her Blood Demon Art, Exploding Blood, sets her own blood on fire, and it first appeared at the exact moment Tanjiro needed it against Rui's threads. The fight against Daki showed the other side of the ledger: pushed too far, she started to slip toward something feral, and only Tanjiro's arms and their mother's lullaby brought her back.

In the Swordsmith Village she stood in direct sunlight and did not burn, the first demon in a thousand years to manage it. That single moment redirected the entire war. Muzan stopped hunting the Blue Spider Lily that day and started hunting her.
