Sanemi
Shinazugawa

Sanemi is the Wind Hashira and the angriest man in the Corps, and the anger is not a pose. A demon took his family: his mother was turned, killed his siblings in one night, and Sanemi stopped her the only way she could be stopped, while his little brother Genya saw only the aftermath. His blood is Marechi, so intoxicating to demons that a cut on his arm can stagger them, which means every fight he wins is won while being wanted as food.

He introduced himself to the audience by stabbing the crate holding Nezuko at the Hashira trial, goading her with his own blood to prove she would bite. She turned her head away, and Sanemi has never quite recovered from being wrong. He remains the loudest voice against trusting demons, which is exactly what watching one eat your family buys.

His cruelty to Genya reads as hatred and is the opposite: he wants his last living sibling out of the Corps and safely alive, and he only knows how to push people with his fists. At the Hashira training he runs an endless sparring stage, and alongside Obanai he chased a demon into the night and became one of the first to lay eyes on Muzan's Infinity Castle.
